Legendary forward Neymar Jr. has been granted permission by Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The draws were held yesterday at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., with FIFA President Gianni Infantino and US President Donald Trump in command. The next World Cup will begin in the United States, Canada, and Mexico in June.
Along with Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland, Brazil is in Group C of the competition.
Despite injury setbacks, Neymar, a former star of Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Al Hilal, has been playing well for his childhood team, Santos, scoring 11 goals in 26 games.
Journalists and supporters are curious as to whether Ancelotti, a former Real Madrid manager, has the Santos attacker in mind for the upcoming World Cup.
Speaking after the World Cup on Friday night, Ancelotti said, “I understand you guys are very interested in Neymar. I want to clarify.
“We are in December, World Cup is in June. When I announce the squad in May, if Neymar deserves to go, if he’s well, if he’s better or same as another, he will play the World Cup, period”.
If Neymar is selected by Ancelotti to compete in the World Cup the following year, it will be his fourth tournament for Brazil. In 2014, 2018, and 2022, he was present.
