FIFA has deemed both the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Congolese Football Association (CFA) guilty of distinct violations during the 2026 World Cup play-off match held in November 2025.
As reported by Sports Village Square, the global football authority stated that Nigeria was sanctioned for violating regulations concerning order and security at games.
This entails, in particular, that spectators throw objects.
FIFA has imposed a fine of 1,000 Swiss Francs on the NFF.
FIFA, for its part, imposed a more severe penalty on the DR Congo federation due to the use of laser pointers and similar electronic devices by their fans during the match.
The action violates Article 17.2.d of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, resulting in a fine of 5,000 Swiss Francs for them.
