Well-known human rights advocate and anti-corruption campaigner, Comrade Ibrahim Garba Wala, popularly called IG Wala, has distanced himself from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and pledged allegiance to the opposition coalition, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

IG Wala made this announcement in a statement issued on Thursday, as political momentum begins to build toward the 2027 presidential election.

His decision to join the ADC comes shortly after the appointment of former Senate President David Mark as the party’s interim national chairman.

In his statement, Wala encouraged Nigerians across generations to throw their weight behind the ADC, aiming to remove President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he blamed for worsening economic conditions in the country.

He emphasized that transforming Nigeria should be rooted in unity and collaboration, not internal conflict.

“For a long time, like many of you, I have felt the sting of political frustration and disappointment. I have pointed fingers and placed blame, convinced that our nation’s problems were the fault of a few individuals. This is a common and understandable feeling, but I’ve come to a powerful realisation: our focus on blame has held us back.

“Blaming is easy. It keeps us stuck in the past and blinds us to the real work that needs to be done,” he stated.

Since July, the ADC has attracted significant political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

Other notable personalities who have recently aligned with the ADC include Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation Magazine, and Dino Melaye, former senator representing Kogi State.

Despite the influx of prominent figures, the APC has downplayed the rising influence of the ADC, citing the party’s underwhelming performance in the August 16th bye-elections as evidence of its limited political reach.
