The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has set its eyes on winning the senatorial and House of Representatives seats in the North Senatorial District from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 general elections.

State APC Chairman, Mr. Alphonsus Eba, made this revelation while addressing journalists in Calabar on Wednesday.

The district is currently represented in the Senate by PDP Senator Jarigbe Jarigbe, while the Bekwarra/Obudu/Obanliku Federal Constituency seat is currently held by PDP Senator Peter Akpanke.

But in the House of Representatives, Godwin Odey (APC) is the representative for the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency.

Eba called on APC members in both elected and appointed posts to put in extra effort and back Governor Bassey Otu’s campaign for reelection.

“The APC is determined to take over all political positions in the North Senatorial District come 2027, we must remain united and committed to this cause,” he said.

The chairman further distanced the party from a petition apparently written by a legal practitioner under the aegis of “Concerned Stakeholders of APC in the Northern Senatorial District” against Sen. Jarigbe.

“The petition written against the sitting senator regarding a N12.5 billion constituency fund is not from us, and we completely disassociate ourselves from it,” Eba stated.

He advised party members from engaging in unlawful legal activities using APC’s name.

“On no account should any member of this party hire a lawyer for any matter that gives an impression that the APC is behind it,” he cautioned.

Eba agreed that party members had the constitutional right to organize support organizations but underlined that such groups must be registered and recognized by the APC.

“Groups like the Northern Coalition, Centricle, and the Southern Summit are authorized to work, but they must adhere to the party’s code of conduct,” he added.

He further stressed the necessity for the groups to establish suitable structures and leadership to maintain orderliness inside the party.
