2027 coalition: ADA not adopted by Atiku, others yet – Aide reveals

Demola Olarenwaju, who serves as the Special Assistant on Digital Media Strategy to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has accused the press of worsening the situation particularly in connection with the recent reports suggesting that the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) has been chosen as the coalition platform for the opposition.

He shared this viewpoint on Saturday via a post on his X account, expressing his surprise at the extensive coverage claiming that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) had become the coalition’s political base for the 2027 general elections.

”Nigerian newspapers often contribute to our challenges. A group is in the process of pursuing party registration, just like any other Nigerian, but they need to coordinate this with the coalition.

Olarenwaju clarified that ADA has not been officially accepted by the opposition alliance. He emphasized that the public will be notified once a decision regarding ADA is finalized by the coalition.

”ADA has not been adopted by the coalition, and when the time is right, the public will be informed about the appropriate choices and decisions. Just be patient with that.,” he wrote

In recent developments, the Nigeria National Coalition Group (NCG) sent a formal request to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register a new political party named All Democratic Alliance (ADA).

This move has led to widespread assumptions that Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufa’i, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, and other key political figures might align under ADA as their common platform for the 2027 elections.
