Olabode George, a former deputy national chairman of the PDP, has asked former vice president Atiku Abubakar to stay in the party and contribute to its advancement.

George also urged other PDP figures to rejoin the party, like as Sen. David Mark, the former president of the Senate and the leader of an opposition alliance that has chosen the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for 2027.

He gave a speech on Thursday in Lagos at a social event called “Restitution of Restoration.”

According to George, the PDP is still a powerful political platform that provides its members with excellent prospects.

George asserts that the PDP is the only organization that can better serve the interests of the party leaders who have become separated.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the ADC was recently chosen as the opposition platform for 2027 by a number of opposition leaders, primarily from the PDP, Labour Party, and others, including some resentful APC chieftains.

He said, “There is no coalition in today’s Nigeria that can be stronger than PDP.”

“The PDP is a reborn political party that has weathered all storm and can never go under. All these leaders must return to this Iroko political party.”

“Those forming coalition should not forget they have traveled that way before, and it amounts to nothing and it will be good they remain in the party to help build it.”

He claims that party officials who defect to join an opposition alliance are desecrated the tomb of the party’s founders, who gave their everything to establish the party.

“It is a disservice to the party whose platform they used to get to higher position in the country,” he added.

George pointed out that the PDP problem was over, particularly on a national scale.

He went on to say that the party had recovered and was now the nation’s main opposition party.

George claimed that all of the justifications offered by Atiku and others for creating a coalition were no longer valid given the PDP’s problems being resolved and the return of calm.

“The party has weathered the storm, this party is re-born, those that have attained higher position in the country on the platform of the party should do a re-think.”

”They should take it easy, there is no way their congregating can pass the PDP strength.”

”They have done it before, there is no major issue of contention in the PDP that can make them leave the PDP,” he said.

However, he claimed that the party has not altered its 2027 decision to assign the president to the South.

“What is the contention about? Why do they want to leave the PDP? They want to be presidential candidate?”

”Positions are zoned in the PDP. The founding fathers of the party zoned position because lack of zoning of positions led to the collapse of the First and Second Republic,” he added.
