Ahead of 2027, the Abuja-based political advocacy group Northern Vanguard, NV, has sent a strong warning to anyone trying to sow discord between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Northern Vanguard President Edward Gulak urged political critics “to cease the orchestrated campaign of discord” that aims to undermine the friendly, fruitful working relationship between the nation’s two most powerful leaders in a statement released Thursday.

According to Gulak, the present climate at the White House is one of “uncommon loyalty, harmony, and shared vision,” adding that any attempt to drive a wedge between Tinubu and Shettima was “not only mischievous but deeply unpatriotic.”

In addition to having experience, he said Shettima genuinely comprehends Nigeria’s security, economic, and regional challenges.

Gulak cautioned that Nigerians who desire peace and stable governance will fiercely oppose any effort to sow discord between Tinubu and Shettima.

According to him, Nigerians are fed up with political drama and are looking for results, which Tinubu and Shettima are providing. He claimed that dividing them would be detrimental to the country.

The group praised Shettima for remaining devoted, responsible, and duty-focused, and saw their collaboration as a unique opportunity for long-term political stability.

Additionally, they cautioned public critics and the media against falling for ruses or phony crises propagated by self-serving individuals.

The group urged all lawmakers to concentrate on fostering national unity rather than fostering division as the 2027 elections draw near.

“This government needs unity, not distractions. Nigerians are watching, and history won’t be kind to those who try to sabotage progress.”

“We are aware that some political merchants, driven by envy and personal bitterness, are hoping to manufacture a rift between President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in order to destabilise this administration ahead of 2027,” he said.

“These rogue elements are disappointed that the President and his Vice are working in seamless unity, and unlike what played out between former President Obasanjo and his then Vice, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the relationship between Tinubu and Shettima has remained unshakeable, fortified by mutual respect and purpose,” he added.
