The front gate of the National Secretariat in Wuse 2, Abuja, was knocked down by demonstrators on Tuesday, causing a problem for the Social Democratic Party ahead of the general elections in 2027.
The National Working Committee of the party was meeting at the party headquarters when the protest started.
As at the time of this post, the protest’s cause is still unclear.
According to ZINGTIE, security personnel affiliated with the party secretariat attacked journalists who were outside the building.
The conflict is not unrelated to the intention to force Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, onto the party’s leadership, a source informed ZINGTIE. Remember how El-Rufai had just joined the SDP?
The former member of the ruling All Progressives Congress promised to thwart President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 comeback in an interview with Arise Television on Monday.
