Former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido has urged Nigerian opposition leaders to take a targeted and calculated approach to opposing the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu’s government.

In their political battle, he exhorted them to put aside sentiments, emotion, and personal grievances.

Lamido made the comments at a yearly Ramadan meal attended by PDP leaders and supporters from Jigawa State’s 27 local government districts.

The event, which took place at his home in Bamaina, Birninkudu Local Government Area, offered a forum for talking on the current climate of the nation.

Lamido expressed worry about the deteriorating economic situation and charged that the APC government was losing focus and ignoring the increasing misery of the people.

He cautioned that in order for politicians to beat Tinubu, they must maintain their concentration and refrain from harboring personal prejudices.

He asserts that putting the interests of the entire country ahead of individual grievances will be the key to the opposition’s victory in the fight against state institutions.

The former governor also urged former PDP members who had deserted to the APC to rejoin their party, offering them a second chance.

He advised them to reevaluate their choice because many of them had experienced abuse and persecution in their new political home.

Since the PDP was the one that initially gave them the opportunity to succeed in Nigerian politics, he maintained that rejoining the party would not be dishonorable.

In order to “liberate Nigeria from the APC atrocity,” Lamido explicitly called for former governors and political figures like Rotimi Amaechi, Nasir El-Rufai, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Aliyu Wamakko to rejoin the PDP.

He insisted that only the PDP have the power and organization to put up a strong fight against Tinubu, rejecting the notion that other parties like the Social Democratic Party (SDP) or the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) could defeat him.
