Chief Edward Percy Masha, the Kaduna State PDP chairman, has stated that the party is committed to regaining political authority in the state at the general elections in 2027.
Masha said in a statement released on Wednesday that rising support for the PDP and growing discontent with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were indicators of a change in popular opinion.
Masha said his administration has prioritized party unity, reconciliation, and bolstering grassroots infrastructure since assuming power six months ago.
He pointed out that the PDP has been repositioned as a potent opposition force and a beacon of hope for the people of Kaduna as a result of continuous consultations with important stakeholders.
Masha maintained that the PDP is still together and focused while admitting that some members have defected to the APC.
He noted that internal conflicts had been healed as a result of the work of the party’s Reconciliation Committee, which is headed by Shuaibu Miqati.
“We are committed to defending our seats in the National Assembly, holding on to our three senatorial positions, and expanding our reach at both the state and federal levels,” he said.
Masha attacked Governor Uba Sani’s APC-led government, calling its “Sustain Agenda” a continuation of policies that have made people’s suffering worse. He pointed to the lack of security in a number of local government areas, including Birnin Gwari, Kauru, Kaura, Zangon-Kataf, Kajuru, and Lere, as proof that the government has not supported federal security efforts.
“Workers are on strike, hospitals are underfunded, and rural infrastructure is in disrepair,” he added.
Additionally, he charged that the state government was mismanaging its finances and that public funds were being utilized for extravagant events connected to unfinished or nonexistent projects.
Masha, on the other hand, emphasized the influence of PDP lawmakers, claiming that they had alleviated suffering by delivering boreholes, classrooms, laboratories, healthcare facilities, agricultural help, scholarships, and empowerment programs.
Regarding the legal front, Masha stated that the PDP is working to have all 23 local government chairmen and 255 state council members removed in order to restore democratic governance at the local level under the direction of the court.
“Our people want change, and the PDP is ready to deliver that transformation,” he said. “We’ll continue to hold the government accountable and present credible alternatives.”
He warned that any attempt by the APC to rig the elections would be fiercely opposed and expressed confidence that the PDP will outperform its 2023 record and win back the governorship in 2027.
Masha assured party members and supporters that the PDP is ready to guide Kaduna toward a brighter future and asked them to stay positive and united.
