Former former vice president Yemi Osinbajo’s spokesperson, Laolu Akande, stated Friday that the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) choice to allocate its presidential ticket to the South is proof that Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory’s minister, was correct.
According to Akande, the PDP’s zoning of its presidential ticket to the South is the first step toward the party’s comeback.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Inside Sources program, Akande emphasized that leadership must go to the South because the North is unable to create successors.
Akande said: “The PDP has now resolved to bold to zone the presidency to the South, Nyesom Wike is right because it seems to be a late decision but better late than never.
“The idea that eight years will go to the North, eight will go to the South in its consensus of rotational presidency is something that everyone in the political scene ought to keep faithful to.
“We can’t have a situation where eight years of the North is followed by another eight or four years from the North, it’s just not fair.
“So kudos to PDP for coming back to common sense. I dare say that this move by the PDP to zone the presidency to the South for 2027 is the beginning of the resurrection of the Peoples Democratic Party.”
