2027: US govt’ll be major opposition against your second term – Primate Ayodele warns Tinubu

Primate Elijah Ayodele, the spiritual head of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has issued a caution to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding the influence of the United States in Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly as it relates to his bid for re-election in 2027.

In a statement released through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric warned that the U.S. government could become Tinubu’s greatest challenge in the upcoming election, and failure to pay attention to their involvement may have serious consequences.

He stated that the United States has intentions to block Tinubu’s second-term pursuit for reasons best known to them and urged the president to treat the matter with utmost seriousness.

Primate Ayodele said: “President Tinubu needs to be very careful and watch his back because the American government is trying to gang up against his second-term ambition. From what I am seeing, the US government would be Tinubu’s major opposition in 2027.

“If he likes, he can joke with this warning, but he is the one who has everything to lose. I am only delivering what I have seen. He needs to be very careful about external involvements in Nigerian politics; they are seriously planning against him.”

Primate Ayodele further advised President Tinubu to focus more on potential threats from international actors rather than local opposition parties, noting that, so far, no candidate appears genuinely committed to contesting and winning the 2027 election.

He criticized opposition figures in Nigeria for consistently prioritizing personal agendas over national interests, saying this lack of unity and purpose is why they are unlikely to unseat Tinubu in the next presidential race.

“In fact, President Tinubu should be more worried about foreign political actors rather than Nigerian opposition parties. The opposition candidates are not serious about taking over power; they are only doing what they like out of selfish interests. They can’t come up with any reasonable coalition that can win the presidency in 2027.

“The only thing President Tinubu should work on is preventing opposition parties from getting international backing from foreign political actors like the US government. Tinubu needs to work very hard to prevent it, otherwise, his second term is under attack.”
