Clement Nwankwo, the convener of the Civil Society Situation Room, has called on all Nigerians and stakeholders to put in extra effort in order to organize legitimate elections in 2027.
Nwankwo cautioned that hope without effort is pointless while highlighting the necessity of taking intentional measures to guarantee legitimate elections in 2027.
This was said by the Convener on Monday in an interview with Politics Today on Channels Television.
“If I say I’m hopeful but do nothing, then nothing happens. If I say I’ve lost hope, then we do nothing. I have seen dictatorship and the brutality of unconstitutional rule. Nothing surpasses ensuring that our democracy survives,” he said.
Nwankwo underlined that the nation needs to actively pursue election changes and move past hope.
He also criticized political party internal systems, claiming that there is still a general lack of internal democracy and equity.
