21 programmes get full accreditation, 4 get interim in KWASU; see list

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has re-accredited all 25 undergraduate programs of Kwara State University (KWASU) that were submitted for evaluation during the October/November 2024 accreditation exercise. According to the accreditation results, which were addressed to Vice-Chancellor Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh and dated April 30, 2025, 21 programs received full accreditation, while four were granted interim accreditation.

The programs that received full accreditation include Taxation, Agriculture, Aquaculture, and Fisheries Management, Food Engineering, Biochemistry, Environmental Management and Toxicology, Physics, Peace Studies, and Conflict Resolution, among others. Others include Special Education, French Education, Christian Religious Studies Education, Islamic Studies Education, Arabic Education, Computer Science Education, Business Education, Early Childhood Education, Educational Management, Agriculture Education, Biology Education, Physics Education, and Chemistry Education.

On the other hand, French, mathematics education, English education, and Yoruba education were granted interim accreditation. According to the NUC, programs granted full accreditation are valid for five years, while those with interim accreditation hold for two years, after which a re-evaluation will be conducted.

Reacting to the accreditation results, Vice-Chancellor Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh commended the university staff for their successful presentation of the programs for re-accreditation. “The management of KWASU would continue to support all academic, research, and community development activities,” Jimoh stated, “calling for greater commitment from all to elevate the university to even greater heights.
