29-yr-old suspect reveals why he killed his father

Mizanmil Abubakar, 29, has admitted that he was motivated to kill his father out of hate for him.

The Niger State capital of Minna, in the Barin-Sale neighbourhood, is where the suspect carried out the patricide.

On July 30, 2024, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the public relations officer for the Niger State Police Command, released a statement revealing the specifics of the offence.

He claims that on July 29 at around 10 a.m., the Kpakungu Police Division got information about a certain Abubakar Adawa, 65, who was reported missing from his home in the Barkin-Sale neighbourhood of Minna.

“Police operatives attached to the Division led by the DPO visited the house and invited Mizanmil Abubakar, 29, and Aisha Abubakar, mother and son, for interrogation,” he stated.

He clarified that after a thorough search of the entire compound, the missing person’s decapitated body was unexpectedly found buried in a shallow grave there.

The police PRO went on to claim that the son admitted to carrying out his late father’s horrific murder during questioning, citing his intense animosity towards him.

“A hoe to kill and severe the victim into parts before he buried him in a shallow grave within the compound,” he said in his statement.

The suspect will shortly be moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Minna, for additional investigation and thorough prosecution, according to a police spokesperson. The preliminary investigation is still ongoing.
