Bernard Musyoki Musungu Kakuawee, a 39-year-old man from Kenya, has made a plea to the Kenyan government for assistance in visiting his sick wife in America.

His wife, Deborah Jan Spicer, aged 74, has been receiving treatment in a US hospital for some time.

The Kenyan man disclosed that he has been denied a visa to the US to visit his “soulmate” since their wedding, despite the fact that his wife is twice his age.

The couple connected on Facebook in 2017, and Musyoki disclosed that he initially applied for a US visa in 2018 and again in early 2020, but both applications were rejected.

The couple met face-to-face on December 20, 2020, and got married in Nairobi, Kenya, on February 2, 2021.

The couple asserted that they are madly in love, despite residing on two different continents.

On Thursday, February 19, 2026, Musyoki disclosed to TUKO.co.ke that his wife has been admitted to the hospital after testing positive for COVID-19 again.

“She tested positive for COVID-19 again and one of her lungs is really damaged after fighting pneumonia for a long time,” Musyoki said.

The concerned husband reached out to the Kenyan government for assistance in obtaining a US visa, enabling him to visit and care for his ailing wife.

According to Musyoki, he recently applied for a third visa but was turned down.

Musyoki took to Facebook to share photos of Deborah on a hospital bed, captioning it: “My mwende is in critical care in hospital, but I can’t be with her. This is even after being legally married for over five years…so sad that she can’t even travel…what a world,” he wrote.

After Musyoki’s wife had heart surgery in the US, she was hospitalised again in January 2025 for several weeks, but unfortunately he couldn’t go to care for her.

A Kenyan man who recently entered politics made an unsuccessful appeal to the government for assistance in obtaining a US visa

In a related development, Musyoki disclosed that his wife transfers KSh 100,000 to him each month for upkeep.

He also revealed that he paid KSh 100 for the dowry of his Mzungu wife.

The man from Kenya disclosed that Deborah’s parents have passed away and that he arranged a dowry payment with her and her children.

He disclosed that Deborah’s two adult children instructed him to pay KSh 100 and requested that he deliver it to the church as an offering.
