Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has pledged to complete all abandoned projects at the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil. During an unscheduled visit to the university on Sunday, the governor directed the commissioners for works, land, and higher education to commence construction of the Senate building and complete ongoing projects at the Wudil campus.

According to a statement by the Deputy Registrar, Information and Public Relations, Abdullahi Datti Abdullahi, the governor lamented the absence of a befitting Senate building, despite the university being established over 25 years ago. “Abandoned projects such as the old Faculty of Engineering, Information and Communication Centre, and drainage are also going to be tackled soon,” the statement read.

Other projects earmarked for completion include staff quarters and additional student hostels. The governor also visited male and female student hostels, assuring improved welfare, particularly in water and electricity supply. Yusuf emphasised that special attention would be given to the institution to enable it to become one of the best in Nigeria.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Musa Yakasai appreciated the state government’s past interventions and urged for increased government presence in the university. The Vice-Chancellor led Governor Yusuf on a tour of the campus expansion area, showcasing the proposed Senate building, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering, Entrepreneurship Development Centre, student hostels, Convocation Square, and Wudil Commercial Secondary School.

Governor Yusuf was accompanied by Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo, commissioners, special advisers, and top government officials. Notably, the Kano State Government has shown commitment to education and development, as seen in the launch of an Irrigation Suitability Mapping Tool Research Project at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology to improve agriculture.
