Abia: Legislative Council Leader impeached, suspended

Colleagues have impeached Mrs. Obiageri Chukwu, the leader of the Legislative Council of the Umunneochi Local Government.

On Thursday, lawmakers suspended her indefinitely and impeached her.

Nwankwo Kingsley Jude Nnamdi was chosen as the Leader after Mrs. Chukwu was removed.

Although it did not go into further explanation as to why the previous leader was impeached, a press release signed by the new Council Leader stated that the adjustments were implemented on Thursday.

However, it named the following Principal Officers to the Council: Ofoegbu Chukwubiko (Chief Whip), Joel Obumneme Uche (Deputy Leader), Mba David C (Majority Leader), and Mrs. Nwafor Charity (Deputy Majority Leader).

The statement that was copied to Umuahia, the Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, states that Mrs. Chukwu, the previous Leader, is said to have been suspended indefinitely.
