Actor John Dumelo wins parliamentary election in Ghana

John Dumelo, a well-known actor from Ghana, won the election for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

According to the ZINGTIE, Lydia Alhassan of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost to Dumelo, who ran on the banner of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He was proclaimed the victor of the parliamentary election that took place on Saturday, December 7, 2024, as part of the nation’s general elections.

Lydia Alhassan received 27,377 votes, while the actor received 40,561 votes, winning his constituency.

In 2020, the actor ran for the constituency seat, but Alhassan defeated him by a slim margin.

Since starting his acting career in 1991 while still a student, Dumelo has acted in a number of Gollywood and Nollywood productions.
