Leke Abejide, a member of the House of Representatives representing Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency in Kogi State, has stated that former Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amaechi is not being considered a contender for the 2027 presidential election.
He asserted that members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are likely to be pushed out by coalition leaders such as Atiku Abubakar, Rauf Aregbesola, David Mark, Rotimi Amaechi, and Peter Obi.
Abejide further claimed that Amaechi would struggle to even secure Rivers State, let alone other regions, in the presidential race. He expressed that only Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi stand out as strong politicians capable of attracting significant support.
The lawmaker, in an interview on Mic On, said that Amaechi is no longer a politician and has no political relevance at the moment.
“Amaechi is not a factor in the 2027 election; he can’t win in Rivers State,” he said.
“He’s not a politician now; he was just a politician before. We’re talking about people who can pull a crowd.
“You talk about Atiku; I agree. You can talk about Obi; I agree. Amaechi is out of the calculation.”
