No particular person would be given preference, according to the Labour Party’s (LP) announcement of its open 2027 presidential ticket.

This was said by Abayomi Arabambi, the Labour Party’s national publicity secretary, at a press conference in Abuja on Friday.

In the most recent general election, Mr. Peter Obi was the Labour Party’s presidential candidate.

According to the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Obi, who gathered a great deal of support from Nigerians, finished third in the election. He won in 12 states, including the federal capital territory.

Even though he is still a member of the LP, Obi recently joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition movement and announced his intention to run for president in 2027.

“There shall be primary elections in the Labour Party, and no aspirant will be favored this time around,” Arabambi declared.

He insisted that the party fix its error before 2027, calling the 2023 election of Peter Obi a betrayal of Nigerians and a mistake with long-term repercussions.

The coalition actors were also brushed off by Arabambi, who called them “Yahoo Yahoo politicians” who caused misery in 2015.

He added, “Instead of a leader with debt and discipline and demonstrable progress for national renewal, Nigeria got a populist, whose greatest skill is telling people what they want to hear. The 2027 election must not repeat this error even as Peter Obi has ported from Labour Party to ADC.

“Nigerians are in fact wishing him well in that ungodly coalition because these are the same coalition that brought catastrophe on Nigerians between 2015 and 2023. Such a coalition must be rejected.

“We wish Obi well in his yahoo yahoo coalition but to let him know that the Labour Party presidential ticket is now open to all Nigerians.

“There shall be primary election this time around, and no aspirant would be favoured.”
