Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president of Nigeria, would be present for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final, according to Patrice Motsepe, head of the Confederation of African Football Federations, or CAF.
The championship final will occur on Sunday at the Alassanne Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, between Nigeria and the hosts, Cote d’Ivoire.
Motsepe was questioned about when Africa could host the World Cup again at his news conference on Friday at the Palace de la Culture in Trechville, Abidjan.
The South African business mogul replied: “Nigeria must put in a bid. The Nigerian president (Bola Tinubu) is coming to watch the final on Sunday. I will have a conversation with him about it.”
In the semi-finals on Wednesday, the Super Eagles overcame South Africa 4-2 on penalties, and Vice President of Nigeria Kashim Shettima was present.
The match is scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m. Nigerian time.
