AFCON: Cameroonians ‘Insult’ Tinubu beyond words

When the Super Eagles defeated the Cameroonians in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) knockout match, there was a furious online argument between the two countries.

As they celebrated Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over them, some Cameroonians appeared to be expressing their hurt and displeasure with the game by making jokes about Nigerians who had tagged them.

Some of them cut fun of the nation’s struggling currency and blamed Nigerian President Bola Tinubu for drug trafficking in a series of mocking posts on X, citing FBI files against him.

Many Nigerians choose not to reply to the harsh jokes, but a plethora of others do so with varying opinions.

While Nigerians refused to respond to the unfairly banter, myriad of others left mixed comments in reaction.

@Baru said: “This sort of hostility is usually between Nigerians and Ghanaians, not Cameroonians. I’ve always loved the mutual respect between Nigerians and Cameroonians, on or off the pitch. When dis one start nau?”
