A joint security team comprising police operatives from Oko Divisional Headquarters and AVG Amaokpala has arrested two suspects, Micheal Chinweze (20) and Mmesoma Agba (25), for their alleged involvement in an armed robbery incident.

The arrest was made on January 24, 2025, at 4:54 pm, following a reported incident on January 22, 2025, where the suspects, along with another accomplice still at large, dispossessed a victim of her personal belongings around Oko Community Hospital.

The stolen items include a red Cub motorcycle valued at N1.3 million, a Techno mobile phone, an ATM card, and N38,000 in cash. During interrogation, Micheal confessed to the crime and revealed that he stole the gun used in the robbery from a security post at a hotel in Amaokpala.

Preliminary investigations also showed that Mmesoma’s first husband was previously neutralized by the police during a gun battle with gang members.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka. The police are urging the public to provide any information that may lead to the arrest of the remaining suspect.

The Anambra State Police Command has been actively working to combat crime in the state, with recent successes including the rescue of kidnapped victims and the arrest of suspects involved in various crimes.
