Akwa Ibom at 38: Let’s play politics with human face – Gov Eno tells politicians

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has once again urged political leaders and stakeholders within the state to avoid conflict and approach politics with empathy and maturity.

He emphasized the importance of prioritizing unity, reminding political players that after the election season, everyone still shares the same home Akwa Ibom.

Speaking during a banquet organized in celebration of the state’s 38th anniversary, the governor noted that Akwa Ibom has grown from its humble beginnings into a preferred destination. He credited this progress to the consistent efforts and vision of past administrations.

Governor Eno reaffirmed his commitment to fostering collaboration among political parties, including the APC, PDP, and others, in order to strengthen unity within the state.

“We would continue to do our very best to unite our state in spite of our political differences. Let politics be played with a human face and let us know that after politics, we would all return as Akwa Ibomites,” he said.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for initiatives aimed at repositioning the country, stating that the federal government has made funding accessible to state governments. Eno added that he has not taken any loans to finance the projects currently underway in the state.

Col. Tunde Ogbeha, the first military administrator of Akwa Ibom, also addressed the gathering, reflecting on how far the state has come since its creation in 1987. He praised both the government and the citizens for contributing to its development.

Meanwhile, the state chairmen of both the APC, Stephen Ntukekpo, and the PDP, Aniekan Akpan, commended Governor Eno’s leadership in maintaining harmony across party divides and pledged their continued support for his administration.
