The scope of the medical services provided included health promotion, eye checks, malaria checks, distribution of malaria drugs and eyeglasses, free dental health services, and nutritional assessment. According to Oyeinkediton Churchill, President of Swansea University Alumni Nigeria, “It’s a collective decision for alumni members around the world who deemed it fit to give back to society.”

Churchill disclosed that the event was a pilot project and would be replicated across the 36 states of the country. He thanked the medical personnel from various organisations who participated in the outreach, including the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, and the Nigerian Red Cross Society.

“We want to see how we can help our children to grow up properly and also to help our nursing mothers in order to make sure that they are well taken care of and given the right medications as well,” Churchill said.

The Patron of the organization, Engr Abdullah Buka, commended the Swansea University Alumni Nigeria for the initiative and commitment to empowering the next generation. He called on other organisations to emulate the association’s community development initiatives, emphasising the importance of partnerships and collaborations in driving positive change.

The Director/Principal of JSS Apo Resettlement, Victoria Nwogu, expressed her gratitude to the Swansea University Alumni Nigeria for choosing the school for the community development program, noting that it would have a positive impact on the students’ academic and personal growth.
