After the name of the late Senator Adamu Talba, who passed away in July 2025, surfaced among President Bola Tinubu’s most recent ambassadorial candidates, public pundit Mahdi Shehu criticized the Federal Government.

Shehu called the error “a sad, scandalous, and avoidable blunder” in a post shared on X on Friday.

He questioned the degree of effort put out by the organizations in charge of vetting nominees.

According to him, the mistake demonstrates how hurried and badly managed the entire nomination process was.

According to him, “This clearly shows everything is being done in a panicky, half- Hazzard and fire brigade approach out of FEAR and in a hurry to please local and foreign influencers so that “the lion” can have some sleep.

According to Shehu, the inclusion of a deceased individual on an official list indicates serious institutional shortcomings.

He claimed that organizations entrusted with confirming nominees’ names and backgrounds failed to perform even the most basic investigations.

“It shows how agencies responsible for vetting nominees are clearly not doing their job,” he wrote.

“Regimes that will continue to fail are those that have no blueprint, no action plan, panicky, full of injustice and unfairness, with open bias and hate against those they perceive or are made to perceive them as enemies that must be eliminated at all cost.

He said, “This is a blunder the Guinness Record Book must register as a unique incidence.”
