After a driver turned her away due to her weight, American rapper Dajua Blanding, better known by her stage name Dank DeMoss, is suing Lyft for weight discrimination.
The encounter, which she recorded on her phone and shared on TikTok, made her feel ashamed, she added.
“I was hurt and embarrassed. I have been in that same type of car many times and never had an issue. This was someone who was discriminating against me just because of my weight,” DeMoss told CBS News.
The driver allegedly broke Michigan’s anti-discrimination statutes, which include weight as a protected trait, according to the 489-pound Detroit rapper’s attorneys.
Lyft insisted in a written statement that company does not support discrimination of any kind.
The company emphasized that its “community guidelines and terms of service explicitly prohibit harassment or discrimination.”
