Salihu Tanko Yakasai, a former spokesperson for Abdullahi Ganduje, the former national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has stated that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) cannot be divided along political lines.
Whatever strategies the APC uses to divide the ADC, according to Yakasai, will fail.
He was responding to the announcement that he is the party’s Interim National Chairman, which was made by Nafi’u Bala, the former national deputy chairman of the ADC.
Bala, a past ADC candidate for governor of Gombe State, claimed that his previous role made it only fitting that he be appointed the party’s interim national chairman.
He made his remarks at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday evening.
Bala charged that the leadership, led by David Mark, had illegally taken over the party and violated its constitution.
In response, Yakasai stated that only the legal National Secretary and Chairman of the ADC will be acknowledged and contacted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Yakasai said in a post on X that APC moles do not hold these two roles.
He wrote: ‘Whatever tactics APC employs to factionalize ADC won’t work.
“INEC only recognizes and communicates with a political party through its legitimate chairman and secretary, and fortunately for the coalition, neither position is occupied by an APC mole, unlike PDP, LP and co.”
