As vote sorting and collation continue in the 57 local government areas and local council development areas, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has grabbed the lead in Saturday’s local government elections throughout Lagos State.
In many polling places, voter turnout was noticeably low, even though the exercise was generally calm.
Shortly after casting his ballot at his polling station in the Adeniji-Adele region, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu spoke to reporters.
He admitted that early logistical issues caused some delays in the process’s start, which he attributed to movement restrictions.
Unofficial reports from different polling places as of 4:00 pm show that the APC was still leading by a significant margin in a number of places, including Sanwo-Olu’s own polling place, 006, at St. Stevens Nursery and Primary School in Adeniji-Adele. Yaba, Somolu, Bariga, Ikeja, and Agege are further strongholds where the ruling party demonstrated its supremacy.
The APC appears to be leading in both the chairmanship and councillorship contests, according to preliminary results from these areas. The Labour Party (LP) is in third place, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is in second.
After collation is complete, the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, is anticipated to release the complete results.
