Australian pop star Iggy Azalea names Nigerian singer her ‘favourite artist’

Iggy Azalea, the Australian-born singer and rapper based in the United States, has revealed that Nigerian music star Victony is currently her favorite artist.

Speaking during a recent livestream with popular streamer N3on, she shared that she discovered Victony’s music by chance while listening to a featured collaboration on Apple Music—and was immediately captivated by his sound.

N3on asked, “What’s your go-to artist right now to listen to?”

Iggy Azalea replied, “I like Victony. He’s an Afrobeats artist. He’s on fire. I found him on Apple Music while listening to a collaboration he did with another artist, and I fell in love with his sound.

“Now, he is one of my soundtracks in the shower.”

Artists from around the globe have increasingly named Nigerian performers among their personal favorites.

Some time ago, Grammy-winning American singer Billie Eilish surprised fans by naming Nigerian artist Tekno as her favorite in an interview.

More recently, Colombian pop icon Shakira also mentioned Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy as one of her top musical influences.
