Former Moroccan international Youssef Chippo has overlooked high-profile names like Kylian Mbappe, Lamine Yamal, and Ousmane Dembele in favor of Achraf Hakimi as his top choice for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
Chippo stated that awarding the prestigious honor to the PSG right-back would be “logical,” based on his outstanding performances throughout the season.
Many football fans and analysts also consider the 26-year-old among the leading candidates for this year’s award, given his consistent displays.
Widely recognized as one of the top players in his position, Hakimi played a key role in Paris Saint-Germain’s successful campaign, helping them clinch the Ligue 1 title, Coupe de France, and Trophee des Champions.
In addition to domestic success, he contributed to PSG’s UEFA Champions League victory and their run to the FIFA Club World Cup final.
Across 68 matches for club and country last season, Hakimi recorded an impressive 15 goals and 18 assists.
“And if he [Hakimi] were to win it, it wouldn’t be a gift, it would be a logical reward.
“He was consistent, decisive, and always stepped up… (he maintained a) very high level of performance from the first match to last,” he said.
Other notable players in the Ballon d’Or conversation include Portugal and PSG’s Vitinha, Barcelona duo Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, as well as Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.
