Fidelity Bank has taken a significant step in addressing hunger and poverty in Osun State by distributing essential food items to over 4,500 residents and donating 500 Point of Sale (POS) machines to support small business owners. This initiative, part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility program, was carried out in collaboration with the Osun State Ministry of Cooperatives and Empowerment and the Esther Adeleke Foundation.

The two-day outreach program was held in the Abere and Modakeke communities in Ile-Ife, demonstrating the bank’s commitment to supporting the local population. Morenike Olabisi, Regional Bank Head, Southwest II, represented the Managing Director/CEO, Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, and highlighted the bank’s commitment to achieving zero hunger and contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 2.

“This is the third distribution exercise in Osun State this year, and our aim is to achieve zero hunger and contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 2. We are not just providing temporary relief but empowering people to improve their livelihoods,” Olabisi stated.

The POS machines, donated to the state government through the Ministry of Cooperatives and Empowerment, will serve as income-generating tools for families and small businesses. Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, represented by Commissioner for Cooperatives and Empowerment, Bayo Ogungbangbe, commended Fidelity Bank for its continued support.

“This is not the first time Fidelity Bank is giving back to the state, and this shows that the well-being of the people is a top priority for the bank. We appreciate their sacrifice and encourage other corporate organisations to emulate this laudable initiative,” Ogungbangbe said.

The founder of the Esther Adeleke Foundation, Erelu Adeleke, expressed her appreciation to Fidelity Bank for sustaining the partnership. “My resolve to help the needy and alleviate poverty necessitated my partnership with Fidelity Bank. There is hardship in the country, and I am doing my best to support the governor in catering to the people of Osun,” she said.

This initiative demonstrates Fidelity Bank’s dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of Nigerians, particularly in Osun State. By providing essential food items and supporting small business owners, the bank is contributing to the well-being of the local population and promoting economic growth
