Bello Turji’s days numbered, no place to hide – Joe Igbokwe

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has issued a stern warning to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Igbokwe declared that Turji’s time is running out and that there is no place left for him to hide. He wrote: “Bello Turji’s Days Are Numbered As It Is Now! No Place To Hide.”

The increased onslaught by Nigerian forces against Turji and his network in Zamfara State is consistent with this warning. Recent coordinated military raids have destroyed the bandit leader’s main hideouts, according to Zagazola Makama, a counter terrorism and insurgency specialist with expertise in the Lake Chad Basin. Areas such as Sabon Birni Local Government Area and Fakai in Shinkafi Local Government Area have been the focus of these operations.

Makama emphasized that military forces had effectively demolished a number of Turji’s camps, including those in Zangon Dan Gwandi, Zangon Tsaika, and Zangon Kagara, as well as a school that Turji is said to have used as a warehouse for weapons and food. During the offensive, the soldiers set fire to the school to keep it from being utilized as a supply base.

The redoubled military actions represent a significant effort to put a stop to the terror campaign that Turji and his network have been directing in the area.
