The reason behind the sudden conclusion of the agitator’s trial has been provided by Aloy Ejimakor, the lead attorney for Nnamdi Kanu, the head of the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB.

According to Ejimakor, Kanu will not go through the agony of a trial that violates the Constitution.

He made note of the fact that the proceedings had taken on the characteristics of an unfair trial for Kanu.

In a message sent to ZINGTIE, Ejimakor said, “For insisting on a fair trial, we have (today) brought Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case to an abrupt end before Justice Binta Nyako.

“We cannot allow Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to be subjected to the ordeal of a proceeding that is in breach of the Constitution and has assumed the character of an unfair trial.”

A small-scale drama unfolded before the Abuja Federal High Court on Tuesday.

Rising from the dock, Kanu commanded Ejimakor to take a seat so he could address the court.

The leader of IPOB called on Justice Binta Nyako, the trial judge, to step down from her position because he did not trust her judgement.

Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, the attorney for the Federal Government, rejected Kanu’s motion.

However, Justice Nyako gave in to Kanu’s request and withdrew from the case.

She gave the order to return Kanu’s case file to Justice John Tsoho, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, so that he may be assigned to a different court.
