Boyfriend arrested after CCTV footage exposes his role in tragic murder of his girlfriend

Daniel, a final-year student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been arrested by Ghanaian authorities in relation to the untimely death of his longtime lover Joana.

According to reports, the couple got into a furious quarrel early in the morning before the terrifying episode that has shocked students and the public.

Unable to control his emotions, Daniel pushed Joana to the ground, knelt on her neck for two minutes, and strangled her to death, according to reports. Later, surveillance footage showed him pulling her corpse to a remote location close to the Centre of Disability, where he sat for a few minutes before stealing her laptop.

According to investigations, the pair had been having a lot of relationship issues and had even made several trips to the university’s counseling department. Although Joana’s father had suggested that they split up, rumors had it that Daniel was fixated on her and wouldn’t let her go. Additionally, friends revealed that Joana had previously told them about Daniel’s physical abuse of her but had decided to forgive him.

Remarkably, Daniel apparently wore the same clothes he wore during the murder when he sat for an examination after committing the crime. When CCTV evidence revealed his actions, he was unable to conceal the conduct by pretending it was a criminal attack.

Authorities began a manhunt for Daniel in coordination with KNUST security. He was quickly arrested after being recognized during an exam by a teaching assistant in the Biological Sciences Department. He was remanded in detention after being charged in an Asafo court. The date of his last hearing is set for March 17, 2025.

Many people are wondering what would have motivated Daniel to carry out such a heinous act against someone he had been seeing since their freshman year of college as the inquiry goes on. Following the court decision, more information is anticipated from the Ghana Police Service and KNUST management.
