BREAKING: Court issues arrest warrant for South Korean President, Yoon Suk Yeol

A warrant for President Yoon Suk Yeol’s arrest has been issued by a South Korean court.

In light of his decision to declare martial law on December 3, President Yoon was recently impeached and placed on leave.

Investigators conducting operations When he did not show up for interrogation, Yeol requested an arrest warrant for the former president.

The warrant sought by investigators looking into Yoon’s brief declaration of martial law has been granted by a Seoul court, according to the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, CIO.

According to an announcement from the Joint Investigation Headquarters, “The arrest warrant and search warrant for President Yoon Suk Yeol, requested by the Joint Investigation Headquarters, were issued this morning.”

But according to Yoon Kab-keun, his attorney, the action was “illegal and invalid.”

According to the Guardian UK, the attorney claimed in a statement that “The arrest warrant and search and seizure warrant issued at the request of an agency without investigative authority are illegal and invalid.”

Yoon was accused of abusing his power and planning an insurrection, so South Korean police requested the warrant to question him.

According to local media, this is the first arrest warrant issued for a sitting president in South Korea.
