In the state capital of Port Harcourt, Rivers State Police Command officers used tear gas on demonstrators Monday morning.

When the police arrived, the demonstrators had gathered at Isaac Boro Park.

The Take It Back Movement planned the demonstration in response to Rivers State’s declaration of emergency.

When the group’s members arrived at the protest site as early as 9:00 am, they were met by a significant police presence.

Channels TV reported that young protesters were yelling at police officers, saying, “Nobody can tell us where not to gather, we are Rivers people.”

The organizers were advised to put their plans on hold by the Nigeria Police Force.
