Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State, has discounted the prospect of defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fayose stated that he would remain in any party where Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, finds himself.
In an interview with TVC, the PDP chief vowed his support for the FCT Minister.
He said: “I’m a Wike person. Anywhere Wike is, that is where I am.”
Despite his harsh critiques of PDP leadership in the South-West, Fayose reiterated his commitment to the party, stating that “I will never join the APC.”
Fayose was a member of Wike’s PDP G-5 Integrity group, which decided to engage with other presidential contenders in the 2023 election.
The G-5 group chose to fight against the then-PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, since he opposed the party’s rotation strategy.
Former Ekiti State governors Wike, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and Ugwuanyi worked for President Bola Tinubu’s emerging All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, while former Benue State governor Samuel Ortom supported Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate.
