BREAKING: Monguno replaces Ali Ndume as Senate Chief Whip

Ali Ndume was replaced as Chief Whip by Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno of the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday.

The replacement came about as a result of a letter of complaint delivered in plenary by Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio from the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, or APC.

The letter, which was signed by Senator Surajudeen Bashir, the National Secretary of the Party, and Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the party, explained that Ali Ndume, in his capacity as Chief Whip, was attempting to drag down the nation by his careless remarks.

In his media interview, he said that “President Bola Tinubu is working with thieves and has also been caged, such that he didn’t know Nigerians are hungry,” which was the subject of the letter.

Akpabio put in a voice vote to approve Monguno’s appointment as the Senate’s Chief Whip after his reading of the letter.
