Omoyele Sowore, a human rights campaigner, has publicly ridiculed those applauding Nnamdi Kanu’s life sentence.

He said in a Facebook post that there had already been a shift in the atmosphere in less than a day. He claimed that people who had been celebrating and boasting about the alleged injustice done to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu had abruptly stopped talking about it as the world started to realize the horrible crime that had been performed against him and the fundamental causes of that injustice were being revealed and addressed in public.

His comments came after Kanu’s sentence was denounced by US Congressman John James and others, who pointed to it as proof of systematic injustice and religious persecution.

According to Sowore, Nigeria was once again forced to face the unsettling reality that certain people were treated more equally than others within the federation. Reiterating an earlier warning that the people would not put up with such obvious injustice indefinitely, he said that this scenario would not be allowed to continue.
