The media advisor to Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate in the general elections of 2023, Val Obienyem, has refuted allegations circulating that his principal was taken into custody by the Department of State Services (DSS) at his Anambra State home.

In a statement made public on Tuesday, Obienyem called the reports untrue and unfounded.

As to his statement, Obi was not present in Anambra State at the said occurrence.

Obienyem said: “As of Saturday, Mr Obi was in Rwanda attending important engagements. He has since returned to Nigeria and is currently in Edo State, where he is actively involved in party and national matters.

“There was no DSS operation at his residence, and no arrest was made.”
