A devastating incident has occurred at the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, where a female student, Kolawole Zainab, collapsed and died while preparing to write an examination on campus. Zainab, a Higher National Diploma II student and mother of three, was said to have suddenly slumped while revising for the first-semester examination.
A fellow student, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that Zainab’s sudden death has thrown her classmates into mourning. “Her sudden death has thrown her classmates into mourning. We were to write an exam at 12 noon, even though we are not of the same department,” the student said
The deceased was a student of the Department of Quantity Surveying, and her death has sent shockwaves through the polytechnic community. One of the lecturers, David Olufunsho Fagboungbe, mourned Zainab’s demise on his Facebook page, writing, “Tears, agony and grief today as female HND QS student of Federal Polytechnics, Ede, and mother of 3 dies in the heat of ongoing first-semester examination.”
The Acting Director, Information, Protocol and Public Relations of the polytechnic, Mr. Sola Lawal, confirmed Zainab’s death, saying, “It is true. Her name is Kolawole Zainab, an HND II student. She was brought in dead to the school medical centre.” The news of Zainab’s death has left students and lecturers in grief, with many mourning the loss of the young student.
