In an appeal to the Court of Appeal, the head of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has requested a stay of his trial before Justice James Omotosho of the Abuja Federal High Court.
Kanu requested in the move that the Appeal Court hold off on delivering the ruling until the appeal was resolved.
Kanu’s appeal might affect the trial’s scheduled judgment delivery date of November 20.
In accordance with section 36(1) of the Nigerian Constitution, he submitted the motion on notice.
Remember that on November 20, Justice Omotosho scheduled the verdict in Kanu’s terrorism trial.
However, the IPOB challenged the accusation, emphasizing that he cannot be prosecuted based on the Terrorism Act, a law that has been repealed.
