Two senators from Akwa Ibom State have switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The senators are Aniekan Bassey, who represents Akwa Ibom northeast, and Sampson Ekong, who represents Akwa Ibom south.

During Wednesday’s plenary, Senate President Godswill Akpabio read their defection letters.

There has been a wave of PDP defectors to the ruling APC, according to ZINGTIE.

Some prominent figures have found comfort in the APC, while others have left the party for the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

According to the letters that Akpabio read, the two senators from Akwa Ibom gave the PDP’s leadership issue as justification for their rejection of the party.
