The Nigerian government has entered into a pact with the UK to assist in the deportation of individuals who have failed to obtain asylum, as well as criminals.
The UK Home Office announced this on Thursday.
This week, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu visited the UK, during which the agreement was made.
The Daily Mail reports that approximately 961 Nigerian asylum seekers in the UK have exhausted all their rights to appeal.
This means that a formal decision has been made for them not to qualify for refugee status in the UK.
In addition, there are 1,110 Nigerian nationals who are offenders, and the Home Office is awaiting their return.
Furthermore, the agreement will assist in repatriating Nigerians who have overstayed their visa duration in the UK.
