Following Super Eagles hero Ademola Lookman’s 2024 African Player of the Year award, congratulations have been pouring in.

At a packed celebration in Marrakech, Morocco, on Monday night, the Atalanta star was named the continent’s greatest player.

“Deserved brother, we are proud of you!” Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong, wrote on X.

“My brother, the best player in Africa, well deserved,” Chelsea’s Tosin Adarabioyo commented, while former Leicester City teammate, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall also sang Lookman’s praises: “Come a long way, so proud bro. Most humble, hardworking guy.”

Nigeria’s top politicians were not left out as they felicitated with the 27-year-old.

”Congratulations to our Nigerian star, Ademola Lookman on emerging the CAF African Player of the Year 2024,” former presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso wrote.

“Lookman had a great performance at the previous AFCON competition and is a reliable player for his team, Atalanta.

“The back to back victory for Nigeria in the CAF Men’s Category, after Victor Osimhen’s victory last year reflects the strong showing our country’s athletes put on their respective stages.

“I also send my felicitations to Chiamaka Nnadozie for winning the Best Women’s Goalkeeper Prize,” he added.

Former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar said Lookman’s coronation was never in doubt.

“Look no further than Ademola Lookman, African Footballer of the Year 2024. Congratulations,” he also posted on X.
