CAN Youths demand arrest of Islamic cleric who called for killing of Tinubu’s wife

The president’s wife, Oluremi Tinubu, is claimed to have advocated for the execution of her husband, and the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, YOWICAN, has called for the arrest and prosecution of the unidentified Islamic preacher.

The priest was seen in a now-viral video claiming that President Bola Tinubu and his vice, Kashim Shettima, were running a fraudulent Muslim/Muslim ticket.

The preacher claimed Mrs. Tinubu “should be put to death as provided for in the Quran because she is an infidel,” but he did not provide any specific Quranic verse or chapter to back up his assertion.

“Now, Tinubu, his wife, is an infidel. As an infidel, she is a leader among the infidels.

In response, YOWICAN expressed disapproval of the cleric’s outburst in a communiqué released following its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, which took place in Abuja on Friday.

The group emphasized the urgency of taking immediate measures to prevent the nation’s security situation from worsening.

“The NEC is calling for the public prosecution of the Cleric and wishes to request that the said preacher should be restricted from preaching in Nigeria to serve as a deterrent to others,” it said.
