A total of eight teams have now been knocked out of the ongoing CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The eliminated nations include Mauritania, Guinea, Niger Republic, Angola, the Central African Republic, Zambia, Nigeria, and Burkina Faso.
Mauritania became the most recent team to exit the tournament following a 2-1 defeat by Madagascar.
As a result of that match, Tanzania topped Group B with 10 points from four matches, while Madagascar secured second place with 7 points and a better goal difference than Mauritania, who also had 7 points but finished third.
Consequently, Mauritania, Burkina Faso (who placed fourth), and the Central African Republic (fifth) have all been knocked out after ending the group stage behind Tanzania and Madagascar.
With this, Mauritania joins Guinea, Niger Republic, Angola, Zambia, Nigeria, the Central African Republic, and Burkina Faso among the countries that have exited the competition.
