Redrow Eastern, a local housebuilder, has presented the 1st Silver End Scout Group with a £500 donation to help create a safe space for empowering the younger generation and supporting their personal development. The donation is part of Redrow Eastern’s Community Fund, which is currently distributing over £12,000 worth of donations throughout the community.
1st Silver End Scouts, run by volunteers, has been serving the community since 1928 and currently has 138 youth members across its four clubs. The Scout section is open to children aged 10-14 years old, from all backgrounds and faiths.
The donation comes at a time when many families are struggling with the cost-of-living crisis, forcing them to be selective about the activities they sign their children up for. The funding from Redrow Eastern will help ensure that Silver End Scout Group can continue to offer a variety of activities to children while keeping costs down for families.
The Scout Group has planned two exciting camps for 2025, including a week-long trip to Czechia and a shorter, five-day camp in Buckinghamshire. The donation from Redrow will help reduce the price of tickets for the children, making it possible for all of them to participate in one of the camps.
For many of the children, this will be their first time away from home without their parents, providing an opportunity to build their confidence and boost their social skills.
Dan Sutton, Scout Leader of 1st Silver End Scouts, said:
“It is very important to us to support young people and ensure they all get the opportunity to take part in new adventures and activities in a fun and safe environment. The children are all very excited about our trips planned for 2025! On behalf of everyone at 1st Silver Scout, thank you to Redrow Eastern for their generous donation, and we look forward to working together in the future.”
Redrow Eastern’s Community Fund was launched this year to provide donations to organisations, schools, and groups at the heart of the community. The housebuilder has also invested in the communities surrounding their developments through contributions to education, healthcare, public transport, and affordable housing.
Jody Bryant, Sales Director at Redrow Eastern, said:
“We are delighted to be able to support 1st Silver End Scouts through our Community Fund this year, and we hope they all enjoy their trips during summer next year!
“We are committed to creating thriving communities and supporting those around our developments in the local area.”
Redrow Eastern offers a range of energy-efficient homes across the East of England, including the Foxgloves development in Silver End, featuring two- and three-bedroom Eco Electric homes perfect for first-time buyers and growing families alike.
